Home Networking

Networking is the process of connecting pc’s and other devices so they can all communicate between each other.

Share files and printers etc throughout your home!

This has traditionally been done with  network cabling, not always a suitable method in your home. There are some alternatives, wireless or even using your mains 240v electric ring main to shunt the data around your home, or a combination of both. The mains power method works providing you are running just one ring main not so much an issue in modern houses. Larger older houses generally will need a look at before we come up with a suitable solution, but these days, a solution for any building is possible.

The advantages of a network are:

  • sharing a printers
  • sharing a data
  • backing up on a network storage unit
  • running a server running Microsoft’s new home server .This would mean being able to backup all your data and sharing you movies , music and other media around the house.
